TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. General
These Terms & Conditions apply between Evolution Cycle Hire Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) and the customer hiring, servicing, or using our equipment (“you”, “your”).
By hiring or using any equipment from Evolution Cycles, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
The term “Equipment” includes all bicycles, e-bikes, helmets, locks, batteries, accessories, child seats, and any additional items supplied by Evolution Cycles.
All agreements are governed by Jersey law.
2. Identification
Valid photographic identification may be required before equipment is released. Accepted forms of ID may include:
Passport
Driving Licence
Government-issued Photo ID
Evolution Cycles reserves the right to refuse hire at its discretion.
3. Bookings & Payments
Online Bookings
Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation.
At present, payments made through our website can only be completed via PayPal. If you would prefer to use an alternative payment method, please contact Evolution Cycles directly and we will be happy to arrange a different payment option or provide bank transfer details.
In-Person Bookings & Reservations
Payments made in person can be completed using:
Cash
Credit or debit card
Apple Pay
Google Pay
All bookings and reservations are subject to availability.
4. Definition of a Rental Day
A rental day is defined as an 9-hour period, generally between 09:00 and 18:00, unless otherwise agreed.
Extended hire periods may result in additional charges.
We also offer an extended overnight hire option, allowing customers to keep their bike until the following morning for an additional fee. If you would like to extend your hire period, please inform a member of the Evolution Cycles team as soon as possible.
5. Cancellation Policy
Customer Cancellations
More than 7 days before the booking date: Full refund
Within 7 days of the booking date: 50% refund or free rescheduling option
The first rental day is not included within the cancellation period.
Cancellation by Evolution Cycles
If Evolution Cycles is unable to fulfil a booking, every reasonable effort will be made to:
Provide alternative equipment
Rearrange the booking date
If no suitable alternative can be arranged, a full refund will be issued.
6. Delivery & Collection
Delivery and collection services are available for £20 per booking, each way.
Equipment may also be collected from and returned to:
Evolution Cycles, Unit 2b, Liberty Wharf, JE2 3NY, St Helier
Equipment will only be released to the person named on the booking upon presentation of valid identification.
7. Responsibility for Equipment
All equipment remains the property of Evolution Cycles at all times.
The customer is responsible for taking proper care of all hired equipment and protecting it from:
Damage
Theft
Loss
Misuse
Any damage, faults, accidents, or theft must be reported to Evolution Cycles immediately.
The customer accepts full responsibility for the replacement or repair cost of any damaged, lost, or stolen equipment at current market value.
8. Condition of Equipment
All bicycles are checked and serviced by qualified technicians before every hire.
By accepting the equipment, the customer confirms that:
The equipment has been received in safe and good condition
The equipment is clean and fully functional
They are satisfied with the condition of the equipment
All equipment must be returned in the same condition.
E-bikes are supplied with a fully charged battery. Riders are responsible for monitoring battery charge throughout their journey.
9. Security of Equipment
All bicycles supplied by Evolution Cycles include a lock.
When left unattended, bicycles must always be securely locked to a fixed and immovable object using the lock provided.
Failure to adequately secure equipment may result in the customer being charged the full replacement cost in the event of theft or loss.
10. Battery Care
Customers hiring e-bikes are responsible for proper battery care during the hire period.
Batteries should be charged at room temperature for optimum performance and charging rate.
Batteries must:
Be charged correctly
Not be fully drained
Be protected from damage, water, or impacts
Damage caused by misuse, improper charging, or neglect may result in replacement charges at full retail cost.
11. Liability & Insurance
Cycling activities are undertaken entirely at the rider’s own risk.
Evolution Cycles does not provide personal accident insurance, medical insurance, or third-party liability cover and cannot accept responsibility for damage caused to other persons, property, vehicles, or equipment during the hire period. Customers are strongly advised to ensure that they have suitable insurance cover in place before riding. If in doubt, please contact your insurance provider directly.
It is recommended that riders carry identification, emergency contact details, and any relevant insurance documentation whilst cycling.
Evolution Cycles accepts no responsibility for:
Personal injury
Damage to personal belongings
Accidents involving third parties
Loss or damage caused during the hire period
Costs resulting from rider negligence, misuse, or failure to follow local traffic laws
Helmets are provided free of charge and are strongly recommended at all times whilst cycling. Riders are responsible for ensuring that all equipment is used safely and correctly.
All riders must comply with Jersey traffic laws and the Highway Code at all times. Evolution Cycles reserves the right to refuse hire or terminate a rental agreement if equipment is being used in an unsafe, reckless, or inappropriate manner.

12. Late Returns
Equipment must be returned at the agreed return time.
Late returns may result in additional hire charges.
If the customer expects to be delayed, they must contact Evolution Cycles as soon as possible.
13. Legal Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions are governed exclusively by Jersey law.
The customer agrees that this agreement is binding upon:
Themselves
Any riders within their group
Their representatives, heirs, or assigns
Any disputes arising from this agreement shall fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of Jersey law.
