HYPE Urban Bikes – Bike Hire Terms & Conditions

1. Identification and Payment

A valid photo ID (passport, driving licence, or student ID) must be presented at the time of hire.
Full payment is required before bike(s) are released.

2. Hire Period

Bikes can be hired by the hour, day, or longer-term (as agreed).
Late returns may incur additional charges.

3. Rider Responsibility

The hirer is fully responsible for the bike and equipment during the hire period.
Bikes must be locked securely when left unattended. Use the lock provided.

4. Loss, Damage & Deposit

Hirers are fully responsible for any damage, loss, or theft of the bike and accessories during the hire period.

• A refundable deposit is required at the time of hire:

  • Hybrid bikes: £50 deposit

  • E-bikes: £250 deposit

The deposit will be returned in full upon safe return of the bike in its original condition.
If a bike is stolen, lost, or returned damaged, part or all of the deposit may be withheld, and additional charges may apply.
Note: Charges include parts and labour. You will be informed of any charges before they are processed.

5. Safety

Helmets are provided and strongly recommended.
Riders must obey all UK road laws and cycle safely.

6. Age Restrictions

Riders must be 16 or over to hire without an adult.
Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult or have written consent.

7. Condition of Equipment

All bikes are maintained and checked regularly.
Any issues with the bike should be reported immediately.

8. Refunds and Cancellations

Cancellations require 24 hours’ notice for a full refund.
No refund will be given for early returns unless agreed.

9. Weather

Rides go ahead in most weather conditions. In severe weather, HYPE may cancel and offer to rebook or refund.

10. Liability

HYPE accepts no liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from the use of hire bikes, except where required by law.
