Cycle Helmets

We can provide quality, comfortable helmets free of charge. The hirer and all members of his/her party are strongly advised to wear a cycle helmet, persons under the age of 16 must wear a helmet and appropriate clothing for the conditions and weather. Trailers will not be issued without a helmet. 

Availability Of Cycles

To guarantee availability of cycles, advance payment and pre booking are required. Cycle hire is subject to availability & we operate a "first come- first served" policy.

Maintenance Of Our Cycles

All of our bikes are routinely checked before and after any hire takes place, it is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that the bicycle and/or other equipment is in proper working order before the hire takes place; this includes brakes, steering, tyres, saddle, drive shaft including pedals, chain and any extra fitted such as buggies. If any problems are noticed then this should be reported immediately where another bicycle will be issued.

Online Bookings

At the time of collection Tattershall Lakes Cycle Centre reserves the right to cancel or amend any online booking if it is deemed the items booked are unsuitable or unsafe for the hirer. The hire may be subject to an additional payment where amendments must be made due to hirer error during the booking process. If the hire is cancelled, the hire will be dealt with as per the cancellation policy below. The hirer also confirms that they and all parties are in possession of guest passes.

Cancellations/Refunds Policy

Outside of 48hrs from start of hire; full refund minus £5 administration fee per booking. 48hrs or less from start of hire; 50% refund of total hire. 24 hrs or less from start of hire; no refund of total hire. After start of hire; no cash/card refunds will be given, however in the case of extreme weather conditions, bookings may be transferred to another day at our sole discretion (subject to availability)

Cycling Safety & Competence

Tattershall Lakes welcomes safe, considerate cyclists. Whether on site, or on road*; please cycle sensibly and safely, be courteous to others, respect the natural environment, and be aware of chosen terrain. Cyclists are required to follow The Highway Code, in particular the 'rules for cyclists' (rules 59 to 71).

• The hirer confirms that everyone in the group is a competent cyclist. 
• The hirer recognises the group will be riding cycles which they may not be familiar with and as such, will exercise additional care and attention. 
• The hirer agrees that every rider can use gears properly, adjust the saddle height and at least one person knows how to fix a puncture. Puncture repair kits can be supplied with your hire, subject to availability. 
• The hirer shall ensure that no member of his/her party shall cycle if in ill health, with a disability likely to affect ability to cycle, or if under the influence of alcohol, strong medication, or other drugs.
• All participants wishing to use a Family Kart must be under 100KG or 15.7 stone and have a safety briefing prior to use.

The hirer accepts full responsibility if any member of the hirer’s party fails to adhere to the above requirements, and we shall not be liable for death or personal injury to any person or loss or damage to any property which results, save where any liability for death or personal injury has been caused by our negligence. 

Hire cycles are NOT to be used outside of daylight hours and must be checked daily for the duration of the hire. Daily cycle safety checks should be undertaken daily by the hirer. Hired equipment may be repossessed by Tattershall Lakes Cycle Centre, with no refund of hire charges, if we consider that it is being used in an unsafe or inconsiderate manner. This includes riding without wearing a helmet. Refunds cannot be given in the event of punctured tyres or damage caused to gears as a result of incorrect use. 

Young Persons

A parent or guardian must accept these Terms & Conditions on behalf of young cyclists (age 17 or less) and assume responsibility for the young person and the hired cycle.  We require any child under the age of 18 to be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. For Family Karts - all steering the Kart must be over 18 and all those pedalling the Kart must be over 16. Front passengers on the Family Kart must be over 0.9 meters in height and over 4 years of age.

Security/Damage

The hirer is responsible for the loss or theft of any of the hired equipment and accessories. It is not recommended that cycles are left unattended. If cycles are left unattended, secure the cycle with a lock that can be obtained for a refundable deposit to a permanent fixture passing the lock through the frame and front wheel. In the event of loss or theft or any damage, howsoever caused; this is the hirers responsibility and will be charged for. The hirer will be subject to a cost of £250.00 per cycle.

Returns

All equipment must be returned to the Cycle Centre before 4:00pm on the last day of hire, unless stated otherwise on the hire agreement form. We reserve the right to charge up to £25 per item of hired equipment for late returns, bikes returned in an excessively dirty state, or bikes requiring remedial work beyond Tattershall Lakes Cycle Centre's normal post-hire maintenance. In the event of a mechanical failure other than punctures, Tattershall Lakes Cycle Centre will offer a breakdown recovery service for the cycle but not the individual (due to insurance constraints) Emergancy breakdown please call01526 348800. Tattershall Lakes Cycle Centre will not offer a recovery service where bikes have been ridden beyond a person’s (or the bicycle’s) capability and there is no mechanical failure, it is the hirers responsibility to return the hired equipment.

Limitation of Liability; Hirer’s Indemnity

The Hirer acknowledges and accepts that travel by bicycle contains inherent risks of injury, illness or death that may be caused by user negligence, physical exertion, consumption of substances, forces of nature, and other factors known or unknown. Save in respect of liability for personal injury or death resulting from the negligence of Tattershall Lakes Limited and/or any of its affiliated group companies and subject to hirer’s statutory rights: (i) the hirer hereby fully assumes all responsibility of risk of injury, illness, death, loss or theft, and agrees to indemnify Tattershall Lakes Limited and/or its affiliated group companies against any liabilities, costs, expenses, damages and losses arising out of or in connection with the hire; and (ii)  the liability of Tattershall Lakes Limited and/or its affiliated group companies arising out of or in connection with this hire agreement whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise is limited to the total cost of the hire.

Refusal Of Hire

Tattershall Lakes Cycle Centre reserves the right to refuse hire of equipment to any individual without explanation.
