OUR RENTAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
Please note that during the rental period you are fully responsible for the bicycles. We kindly ask you to use them with care.
Preamble: General framework of the rental
These rental terms define the conditions under which the company HOLLAND BIKES VELOMOTION provides you with a short-term bicycle rental service.
HOLLAND BIKES VELOMOTION is a simplified joint-stock company registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register under number 442 110 789, with its registered office at 79 ter boulevard Lefebvre, 75015 Paris, France, and VAT number FR 66 442 110 789.
Article 1: Ownership and responsibility for equipment
The bicycles and accessories remain the exclusive property of Holland Bikes at all times. You accept full responsibility for the maintenance of the equipment and are liable for any damage or loss.
You have 30 minutes from the start of use to report any malfunction. After this period, any repairs resulting from the use of the equipment will be charged to you and may incur additional fees.
Holland Bikes will charge according to the Replacement & Repair Cost List.
Article 2: User responsibility
The equipment is used at your own risk. You release Holland Bikes from any liability for injuries or damages caused to the user(s), any other person, or property.
You agree not to make any claims against Holland Bikes for injuries or damages related to cycling or the use of this equipment.
Article 3: Theft protection
You may subscribe to a theft protection guarantee.
This guarantee applies only in the event of theft and only upon presentation of a police report. A deductible may apply depending on the level of coverage chosen.
The theft protection does not cover damage, nor the theft of accessories, the screen, charger or battery of an e-bike.

Article 4: Conditions of use
It is strictly forbidden to:
modify or carry out major repairs on the bicycles
sublet or lend the bicycles
remove the orange Holland Bikes triangle
carry a passenger on the rear rack (except a child in a dedicated child seat)
If you rent a phone holder, Holland Bikes cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to your phone during its use.
Article 5: Safety measures and parking
Our bicycles are equipped with a chain lock, which must be used whenever you park the bicycle.
You must attach the frame of the bike to a fixed object that cannot be moved or removed.
Do not attach bicycles to monuments.
At night, bicycles must be parked indoors and locked.
If you rent an e-bike or e-cargo bike, please remove the battery and the removable display during the night.
If the bicycle has not been secured according to these conditions, the theft protection will not apply, even if purchased.
Article 6: Return of the bicycle
All rented bicycles must be returned to the same rental location where they were collected, namely our shop in La Couarde-sur-Mer.
Article 7: Breakdown and assistance
In case of a breakdown and if you cannot bring the bicycle back to the rental shop, you must:
lock the bicycle by the frame to a solid and fixed object
take a photo of the exact location
send us all the necessary information by email or phone
Another bicycle will then be offered.
Please note that assistance is provided only on Île de Ré.
For recovery outside the island, a fee of €100 will be charged.
Article 8: Payment and credit card authorization
You authorize Holland Bikes to use your credit card information to pay for the rental and to cover any damage and/or loss of the bicycle(s).
Article 9: End of the rental agreement
The rental agreement ends when the bicycles are returned and their condition has been checked by a Holland Bikes staff member.
Article 10: Security deposit
Your credit card will serve as a security deposit. No amount will be charged or blocked.
Article 11: Late and unreported returns
If you return your bicycle late (after the end of the rental period) without informing our customer service, Holland Bikes reserves the right to charge €50 administrative fees per bicycle, in addition to extra rental fees.
Article 12: Reservation changes and commitments
You have up to 24 hours before the start of the rental to inform Holland Bikes of any modification to your reservation.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the start, no refund will be issued.
Once the rental contract has begun, the rental duration cannot be reduced. No refund will be given for early return.
If bicycles are returned before the end of the booking, you may lose the benefits of special offers if the conditions are no longer met.
To extend your rental, please contact your Holland Bikes shop to check availability.
To receive a refund, cancellations must be made 48 hours before the rental start.
Different cancellation conditions may apply to corporate and student groups.
Article 13: No right of withdrawal
According to Article L.221-28 (12°) of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal does not apply to contracts for leisure services that must be provided on a specific date or period.
Due to the nature of the services provided by Holland Bikes, the right of withdrawal does not apply to short-term bicycle rental.
Article 14: Disputes and mediation
All disputes related to the rental contract will be settled by the courts of Paris, France.
In case of dispute, Holland Bikes will first attempt an amicable settlement.
If no agreement is reached, you may contact the consumer mediator:

You must contact the mediator within one year after your written complaint to Holland Bikes.
