The following terms & conditions form part of the rental agreement between Outside Sports Limited (“Outside Sports”) and the Hirer. The Hirer agrees to the terms and conditions of the rental listed below and further acknowledges that they have read and understood the same and that they apply to all persons in the account. 

1. This agreement applies to all items (“the Equipment”) hired to the Hirer or any member of the Hirer’s party.

2. The Hirer agrees that the Equipment hired remains the property of Outside Sports. 

3. The Hirer accepts full responsibility for the care and security of the Equipment for the entire hire period and agrees to return the Equipment by the due date and time. 

4. Subject to clauses 15 to 18, The Hirer shall be charged in full for any repair/ replacement charges to the Equipment if damaged during the rental. Charges may be imposed on careless or excessive damage to the Equipment as determined by our workshop. 

5. The Hirer shall be charged the single day rate for each day the Equipment is not returned after the due date shown.

6. The Hirer shall be charged the full replacement cost of any item of the Equipment damaged beyond repair or destroyed. If the damage is repairable the Hirer shall be charged the full cost of the necessary repair work. 

7. The Hirer agrees to be responsible for the Equipment while in their possession and lost/stolen items will be replaced at the Hirer's expense. In the case of theft the Hirer must report the theft to the local police within 48 hours. 

8. Refund: Any refund, where applicable, will be given to the Hirer in shop credit or will be credited to the Hirer’s rental account. Cash or credit card refunds will not be given with the exception of mountain closure, personal injury (written proof may be required at our discretion) or rental equipment failure. 

9. The Hirer understands that all snow/ cycle / tramping sports are hazardous activities and the hirer indemnifies Outside Sports and its employees and representatives accordingly. 

10. The Hirer agree that the equipment will not be used for mountaineering routes higher than New Zealand Alpine Grade 1.

11. The Hirer agrees that under no circumstance will Outside Sports be responsible for any injury, accident, loss or damage to any person or property arising out of the hire or use by the Hirer of the equipment subject to this rental agreement. 

12. A credit card record is required as security for all equipment hires. 

13. If the Hirer is providing the group security deposit with a credit card, the Hirer hereby authorises Outside Sports to debit that card for the repair or replacement charges for any items lost, stolen or destroyed or for each day the Equipment is not returned after the due date as per the above conditions. 

14. The Hirer authorises Outside Sports to debit a credit card provided as a security deposit for the repair or replacement charges for any item of the Equipment lost, stolen or destroyed or for each day the equipment is not returned after the due date as per the above conditions. 

Damage Coverage

15. Damage coverage is included by default on snow equipment. The Hirer may optionally remove damage coverage.

16. If the Hirer has purchased damage coverage for any of the days of their period of rental, the Hirer will not be liable for damage incurred to any item in the course of normal use of the Equipment, on the day that coverage was purchased for, up to a maximum cost value of $500 over the entire period of rental.

17. The damage coverage will not apply to loss or theft of the Equipment.

18. The damage coverage will not apply to damage to the Equipment that Outside Sports deems to be deliberate.

19. Damage coverage is only available for snow and bike equipment and is not available for hiking equipment.

Rescheduling or Cancelling Bookings

If you decide that you need to either cancel your booking or alter booking dates please email us as follows:-

Please note that this is a Queenstown booking. Please note too that if you cancel your booking within 48 hours of your hire pickup we will reserve the right to charge you the full price of the booking.
