Agreement
By continuing you agree to hire the specified electric bike and accessories/equipment chosen and to pay for the cost of hire. By continuing you accept that your details will be kept safely.
- You understand that bicycling is a hazardous activity that has unanticipated risks which could result in physical or emotional injury, paralysis, death or damage to self, such risks cannot be eliminated by SDT.
- You understand the risk of riding the bikes and confirm that you are a competent cyclist. SDT will provide helmets and hi vis to help reduce such risks, and would ask you wear them, but you understand that these do not eliminate the risk and may not reduce injury in the event of an accident.
- SDT take no responsibility for any personal injury that may occur during the rental period.
Rental
- No other person may drive or otherwise operate the electric bike you have hired.
- You are prohibited from carrying passengers on the bike at any time.
- You must follow all laws, rules and regulations, as well as posted signs and warnings.
- No under 14's will use the electric bikes - it is illegal for under 14's to use ebikes on roads.
- You should be aware of all weather conditions and other environmental factors which could affect the safety operations of you and the bike.
- You are responsible for securing the bike when unattended, to keep it in an enclosed area at night and to keep the equipment safe at all times.
- Any theft, damage or accident should be reported to 0747151791, in the event of theft or accident these should also be reported to the Police.
- You agree that you should not or may not participate in the activity under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- You will follow the highway code, not to ride on pavements, against traffic or run traffic lights.
- You may not take these bikes off the road as these bikes are not designed for off-roading and will get damaged.
Repossession
SDT may repossess the bike at any time if (A) the bike is used in violation of the law (B) it appears the bike is abandoned (C) you fail to return the bike when due. SDT is not required to give you notice advance of repossession.
Prohibited Use
Electric bikes must remain on Shapinsay for the duration of hire unless otherwise agreed at the start of the hire.
